Hinwil Local Museum

A museum that represents the life and the customs of Hinwil and makes people aware of their own history.
Museum
The local museum includes the residential building, the barn, the peat shed and a fire station. At the living museum located at a typical Flarz house (traditional terraced house), the living conditions of the 18th and 19th century may be re-experienced.
The chronicle room features books, pictures and documents from the Zurich Oberland and the complete Hinwil chronicle since 1924.
The barn shows equipment for agriculture and craft used in Hinwil around 1900.
Underneath the roof you will find typical equipment of old craftsmanship; the peat shed exhibits equipment and pictures of peat digging.
The fire station displays a comprehensive fire brigade exhibition.

Opening hours
March to DecemberEvery first Sunday of the month: 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. or upon arrangement.
Guided tours for groups also outside our opening hours.
